Opening on June 30th, ‘Palmimpsest+ing’ by Zurishaddai “ShaddaiiT” Tremus in the virtual showroom of EL PRAN Projecten ​

(ORANJESTAD – June 20, 2021) EL PRAN Projecten will open a  virtual exhibition featuring Zurishaddai “ShaddaiiT” Tremus from Curaçao.

‘PALIMPSEST + ING’ presents us with a methodological system of artistic production. The essence of this work is in the documentation of processes that become visible in the final results, where “by layers” the artist explores different fields of knowledge, cultural reference, or the practice of a craft. It stems from the documentation of herself as a body, an image, a context, and a language.

These works show the different layers or apparent aspects under the artist’s surface, which she created or authenticated in years while compiling knowledge and self-developing various artistic skills. Tremus delivers in ‘Palimpsest + ing’ a series of art pieces (written, illustrated in physical and digital media) exploring popular superstitions in the Curacaoan (and the Dutch Caribbean) context.
